7:30 pm Book Reviews

Carrie White is different from all the other girls her age; she doesn’t have any friends and is painfully shy, having been brought up by Margaret her mother who is very religious. Her mother thinks that everything is a sin. When Carrie doesn’t anything that her mother doesn’t like she locks her in a closet in the dark for hours or even days. At school Carrie gets bullied for being so different, she starts her period when she is 16 in the showers at school, as her mother never told her about periods Carrie thinks she’s dying and all the other girls laugh at her. Carrie then discovers that she has telekinesis powers; she can make things move by just staring at them. Carrie starts practicing a lot at her powers which makes her even more powerful.

Carrie has no intentions of going to the prom, but Susie one of the girls who bullied Carrie feels bad and asks her boyfriend Tommy to take Carrie to the prom instead of her. Carrie really wants to go to the prom no matter how her mother tries to stop her.

One girl who hates Carrie decides to teach Carrie a lesson, they set it up so loads of pigs blood falls on Carries head at the prom. This is when Carries powers really start and the nightmare begins. A brilliant book, I couldn’t put down until Id finished, I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes horror stories.
