Broken Flower by Virginia Andrews
October 31, 2008 12:09 pm Book ReviewsJordan lives in her grandmother’s mansion with her parents and her brother. Her Grandmother Emma is very strict and insists that the family live by her rules. As everyone seems to be scared of Emma, Jordan tries her best to be a good girl and not get into trouble. One day without warning something strange happens to Jordan, her body begins to change. As Jordan is only a young girl she realises that these changes shouldn’t be happening not for a long time.
Jordan’s mum tries her best to hide the secret form Grandmother Emma and her brother Ian. Ian finds out about what’s happening to Jordan and tries to help her in his own way by looking up her condition. Eventually Emma finds out and is angry that they kept it from her.
Everything in Jordan’s life is turned upside down never to be the same again. Her mum and dad end up in a terrible accident and she is left with her grandmother. All Jordan wants is her normal life back and her mum back home.
Broken Flower is a very gripping book which I could not put down. It’s a sad story of young girl’s struggles when she has to grow up too soon.
